I always knew …
I always knew Maytag made the best appliances… this one’s still running after 77 years!! Sure is a much longer time than our 1999 Frigidaire washing machine, which lasted 5 years. i guess today’s washers can’t handle the extremely hard water in a small town.

Electrification …
Electrification came late to the upper midwest. We didn’t get it until 1949 and I remember a few remote farms didn’t get it until the 70’s! After light bulbs, my mom’s first purchase was an electric Maytag wringer washing machine!

I’d love to have just one of the engines for one of those. It’s very nice sounding. What kind of oil are you using? I can remember reading somewhere that these engines produce lots of smoke when they are running.

I met a women who showed her little girl the gear on my running model 92 that had chewed the end off her thumb at an engine show,that was truly a trip.seems lots of little girls have been hurt by these things in days gone by.you just have to love it.
